VXU LABS / ANDROID KIOSK

Kiosk. One tablet. A clear purpose.

Give an Android tablet a dedicated job: display your website or a simple welcome screen, with PIN-protected administration and a Hebrew or English interface.

Open source · MIT licensed · Android 9+ · Hebrew & English

Your content, front and center.

Choose a fullscreen HTTPS website or a built-in home screen with your title, welcome message, clock and date. The home screen works offline; your website depends on its own connectivity requirements.

Kiosk keeps the public display clear of management panels. A simple menu lets visitors refresh the homepage, while settings and maintenance require the administrator’s PIN.

Made for Hebrew and English.

Choose the interface language during setup or in settings, with right-to-left and left-to-right layouts and localized dates. Dark and light themes apply to the Kiosk interface. Your website and custom text keep their own language and design.

Control access to the tablet.

A personal 6–12 digit PIN protects administration, with throttled attempts and expiring admin sessions. With Android Device Owner provisioning, Kiosk supports lock task mode, a persistent Home app, launch after boot and supervised maintenance access.

There is no default or recovery PIN. Keep your PIN safe: losing it may require erasing the tablet. Kiosk cannot power on a switched-off device or prevent a hardware recovery or forced reboot.

Install the app. Then configure the lock.

Download the APK from GitHub Releases and follow the setup guide. Installing the APK or choosing Kiosk as the Home app alone does not enable full device locking: that requires Device Owner provisioning.

Back up the tablet before provisioning. Android may require a factory reset if accounts or an existing device manager prevent setup. Follow the guide and test your device before leaving it unattended.

A focused browser for a dedicated device.

Web mode uses HTTPS and stays on the configured hostname unless you allow additional HTTPS hosts, such as a sign-in provider. Downloads, uploads, pop-ups, external-app links, camera, microphone and location access are blocked; third-party cookies are disabled. Test your website and sign-in flow before deployment.

Small, open and locally managed.

Kiosk includes no ads, analytics SDKs or remote administration service. Settings live on the device, and the source is available under the MIT license. Any website you display has its own data practices.
